Care Instructions and Framing Guidance
All artworks listed for sale have been made using archival materials for longevity.
Handling
Each original work is made on raw cotton canvas and is therefore delicate. It should be handled with clean, dry hands to avoid transferring oils or dirt. Where possible, avoid touching the painted surface directly and hold the artwork by its edges.
Framing and mounting
Works are sold unframed unless otherwise stated. Professional framing is highly recommended for long-term display and protection. The artwork should be supported using archival, acid-free materials and if possible, should not be permanently adhered to a backing board.
When taking your work to a framer, let them know that it is an original work on unprimed cotton canvas and ask for conservation quality, reversible mounting methods.
For the presentation shown throughout this website, the artwork has been float mounted to preserve the visibility of its raw canvas edges. An acid-free backing board is used behind the work, with an acid-free gallery mount cut so that the entire work sits within the opening rather than underneath the mount. The artwork is supported on conservation-quality foam board and tape, secured using a reversible T-hinge method. This creates a subtle floating effect within the frame. The frame should be deep enough to accommodate spacers between the glass and the artwork. These create a protective air gap while retaining the floating presentation.
Glazing
UV protective glazing is recommended to shield the work from fading caused by light exposure, dust, discolouration, and accidental contact.
Ensure the materials do not touch the surface directly to prevent potential damage.
Light & environment
As with all original artwork, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight as it can cause discolouration and fading over time. Display your work away from sources of excessive heat and moisture. Avoid hanging original works directly above radiators, in bathrooms or in other areas prone to condensation. Extreme fluctuations in humidity or temperature can cause damage to the artwork, such as warping or mould.
Cleaning
Do not use water, cleaning products or solvents on the artwork. If necessary, dust the frame or glazing gently with a soft, dry cloth, taking care not to touch the work surface. Consult a professional art conservator if there is ever any grime or stubborn stains.
